Taiwan - Day 4

Taiwan - Day 4

Took the train from Hualien in the morning and finally reached Taipei around noon~
Since its too early to check in our hotel - ECFA hotel Wan Nian, we decided to leave our luggage in the lobby and went nearby to have our breakfast.

The traditional breakfast that Taiwanese will have is soya milk with fried dough fritters "you tiao".
If you are staying in Xi Men Ding, you can consider of having your breakfast in Yong He Dou Jiang 永和豆漿 which is really popular among locals and tourist. You can check with your hotel reception for the location, ECFA hotel even have a small map for me to locate 永和豆漿.

At 永和豆漿 , you can order based on their ranking but I personally love the 抓餅 "zhua bing" which taste alike to prata. You can also try their carrot cake which ranked No.3. Although their breakfast is worth trying and I find some of it taste really good but you have to prepare yourself with all these oily food. Actually almost all the food in Taiwan is quite oily.

After having a filling breakfast, we headed over to Zhongxiao Fuxing for some shopping. Those who are crazy over Hello Kitty can visit their restaurant there and also there's two SOGO department store.
We then cabbed to Chia Te 佳德糕餅 to get the famous pineapple tarts! I have did quite a bit of research and realize many people recommend this shop and there's only one shop in Taipei.

Finally reached Chia Te and you can see a long queue outside, thats how popular they are. I think also because I went on a weekend so there were many tourist crowded at the store.
I got a few boxes of those yummy pineapple tarts and they even sell other flavors of tart, eg. melon tarts.

Carrying those heavy goodies around for shopping is seriously a hassle but my Dad insist to just carry along so we then cabbed down to Wu Fen Pu where they sell wholesales clothes. Normally I will just search through those clothes they hanged outside since those are mostly cheaper and definitely you have to check on their conditions as some are not in good condition. You can get some clothes or dress at 200-350NTD (8-15SGD) which are in good quality.

Finally done shopping at Wu Fen Pu after 2-3hrs then we walked over to Raohe Night Market 饶河街观光夜市 and we were a little lost so asked the locals for direction. Taiwanese are always so helpful and friendly, really love their services from those retailers.

We spent quite awhile looking for direction to Raohe Night Market and at last, we reached.
You can stop thinking about diet when you are in Taiwan because their Night Market have too much food for you to resist.
What's famous in Raohe Night Market? You will see a long queue for their Pepper Bun 胡椒餅 and so this time I manage to try it since Daddy don't mind to queue up. You will also see a few stall selling shave ice and give it a try! Taiwan shave ice is smooth and the portion is always big, I always love to order the Mango Pudding shave ice.

While returning back to our hotel, we did some short shopping in XiMenDing to buy clothes and have some street foods again.

As usual all this street food pushcart start to move around whenever police come. I really find it cute when they always pushing their cart around to another location for selling.
